Easter romance sales!

(Well that’s not their official titles, but… Easter’s on its way–Goodness, how are we at Easter already??) At any rate, I have two bits of news for you. Sales and book news: (see below the cut for the links)


News point #1), I’m getting closer to finishing the next book in my Camden Girls series (for those of you awaiting my next Historical romance) and the next Antique Magic book. Woot! So, almost nailed my goals for Q1. Stay tuned for those releases, I hope before Christmas–heck, I hope before summer is over!

Too ambitious? We’ll see.


News point #2: I’ve put Changeling’s Crown out in all ebook sellers (scratch that, all but Googleplay. That’s a little more involved, but …do any of you purchase books at Googleplay?

Making a date–#booksnippet–September 15

And now for something a little different…maybe. Here’s my sneak peek for Keeper of the Grove (Stewards War, book one) for this Sunday:

Stacy’s gaze went to Aaron’s, and butterflies dashed around in her stomach. A vision flashed before her of how his eyes might look glazed over in passion. “Maybe we should go.” She cleared her throat, stood and moved to the filing cabinet, changed her mind and went to the desk again.
The fabled diary! She was beside herself with excitement. She’d have the diary. What a month this
was turning out to be. “When can we meet him?”
Aaron came forward and ran a finger over the calendar’s slots. “How about tomorrow morning?”
“Yes.” She nodded emphatically. “Perfect. Nineish?”
“Tomorrow it is.” He nodded and turned toward the door.
The thrill of this discovery overwhelmed her. An urge to kiss him in thanks struck her hard in the chest. “Aaron?”
He met her gaze, waiting.
Her brain screamed, halt! She wanted to touch him at least. Her fingers twitched. She stepped back.
She just couldn’t. “I’ll see you at nine.”
He turned away with a knowing glint in his eyes.
She was such a fool.

Synopsis:

What is the Collar for, and What is a Cavvarach?

The story is set in a world very much like our own, with just a few major differences. One is that slavery is legal there. Slaves must wear metal collars that lock around their neck, making their enslaved status obvious to everyone. Any slave attempting to escape faces the dilemma of how and where to illegally get their collar removed (a crime punishable by enslavement for the remover).  

Another difference is the popularity of a martial art called cavvara shil. It is fought with a cavvarach (rhymes with “have a rack”), an unsharpened weapon similar to a sword but with a steel hook protruding from partway down its top edge. Competitors can strike at each other with their feet as well as with the blades. You win in one of two ways: disarming your opponent (hooking or knocking their cavvarach out of their hands) or pinning their shoulders to the mat for five seconds.

More About the Story


Set in a world alarmingly like our own, The Collar and the Cavvarach is the story of fourteen-year-old Bensin, a slave, whose status is made obvious to everyone by the steel collar locked around his neck. A martial artist who competes to win money for his owner, Bensin fights in tournaments with a cavvarach. But his greatest battle is the struggle to protect his little sister from the horrors of legalized slavery in a world where slaves have few rights. Desperate to keep her safe, Bensin struggles to find a means – legal or otherwise – to arrange for her freedom.

Winter-time, business, and new releases

Not saying we have it as bad as those of you getting snowed on but WOW did the temps drop this weekend! (And we’re already–slightly–warming back up).

And I finally got  Draft2Digital figured out. Their support was wonderful. 🙂 So if you’re an indie author and looking for a way to go “wide” I’d say give them a try.

Also, I’ve got a new freebie short story up, for Christmas entitled No Such Thing as Dasher. It’s a holiday themed short story. The synopsis is as follows:
