Brandy Nacole: Our fascination with paranormal creatures.

*Minion Juli pulls drapes. Pauses. Peers out window*: Does the ground in the garden seem to be moving to you?

*Night Mistress comes to her side and looks* “I don’t see anything moving.”

Juli: I think it is. Should we call an exterminator? We don’t want the rats scaring off our next guest.

Night Mistress: I’m sure she can handle it.

Juli: You could be right. She does seem okay with things most people consider strange. (Aside: Like you)

Night Mistress: “What was that?”

Juli *opening the door*: Nothing. Just rehearsing what I’ll say to welcome our next guest.
Night Mistress: Don’t mind her, Brandy, and thank you for coming! Folks, Brandy Nacole is a New Adult author of paranormal novels.

Juli: Brandy’s come to tell us why she loves paranormal creatures so much (clearly she’s never had the misfortune to meet my employer).

Night Mistress: What was that?

Juli: Do you need to get your hearing checked, Mistress?

Night Mistress: I don’t think so. Brandy, dear. Come in, don’t mind my minion. She’s going on unemployment soon. Would you like some tea?

Brandy Nacole: Thank you, Mistress. I’d love some.

Night Mistress: Now tell us about these lovely creatur–er friends of yours, won’t you?

Paranormal creatures have been the center of many conversations throughout history.  Parents who try and keep their children from doing something dangerous or to keep them in line.  Friends scaring each other around the campfire.  Local townsfolk telling the local myths to tourists around a steaming cup of coffee.

Paranormal creatures have also been the center point for many movies and television shows.  When most people think of the paranormal they think it will be scary and in some cases corny, but that is not always the case.  Many paranormal shows and movies have been made for the more family oriented setting: Casper the Friendly Ghost, The Munsters, Hocus Pocus, and many more.

But the question many ask, which paranormal creature is the most popular?

For the past few years many believed it to be the vampire, others ghosts and demons.  But when you take away the worldwide range and focus locally, it will be the local legends at the top of the list, not majority vote.  There are a few post found about the top ten in paranormal, but they are all solely based on opinion or popularity over decades.

I like many different paranormal creatures and for different reasons.  They’re all awesome in their own way.  How awesome would it be to run through a forest so fast your nothing but a blur, while also managing to miss every tree in your path?  Or how about throwing someone across the room when they won’t quit running their mouths?  I would say pretty darn awesome!

Uniquely UnwelcomeMy interest in all paranormal creatures is what led me to write my first published novel, Uniquely Unwelcome.  The main character, Racquel, is a hybrid of four different Shadow lines: Witch, Vampire, Lycan, and Shifter.  The problem with Racquel is, she’s an outcast among the other pure-blood Shadows in the Shadow World.

After the publication of Blood Burdens, the second book in the Shadow World series, I wrote Broken FaithBroken Faith is another series with a mixture of different paranormal creatures.  Kayson is a fallen angel out to prove everyone wrong.  Sabrina is a vampire, a half-blood created from the original blood children, whose only goal is to stay hidden and survive.  Then there’s Falon, Alpha of the Hell hounds, destroyer of the blood children.  And when these three world’s collide, no one may be safe.

What is your favorite paranormal creature?  Vampire?  Werewolf?  Ghosts?  Bigfoot?
Night Mistress: Oh, I’d have to say….all of the above! Bigfoot’s a bit hard on the linoleum but he’s welcome at our castle anytime. How about you, folks? Do you have a preference in your favorite paranormal creatures to share with our guest? Meanwhile, let’s have Brandy tell us a little more about her books.

Racquel is unique. The bloodlines of four of the most powerful beings in the Shadow World are intertwined within her DNA.  She has never craved attention. She just wants to be able to live as normal life as she can. But she’s about to find that even though she’s uniquely unwelcome wherever she goes, her abilities also make her the best chance the Shadow World has to stop a threat to all the Shadow races.
Once arriving home, Racquel finds that greater evils exist and that the person she cares for most in this world, her half-sister Addie, has been kidnapped along with other Shadow World beings.  Racquel finds herself facing horrible odds with those who would rather see her dead than alive.

As her journey continues, Racquel learns more about herself, what she is capable of, and that not every being looks at her as an abomination.  Coy, a human captive that Racquel saves from the Vampires, starts showing kindness toward her.  Racquel tries putting distance between her and the human boy but as they spend more time together it becomes harder and harder for Racquel to fight the affection she wants and needs.

But will Coy’s friendship and her new found discoveries be enough to help Racquel unravel the strangest mystery that has ever plagued the Shadow World?

Blood Burdens:

As someone with four Shadow bloodlines, Racquel is uniquely unwelcome even among her fellow werewolves, shape-shifters, vampires, and witches. Growing up, she was bullied and tormented for being a “hybrid,” a condition frowned upon by Shadow society. After saving her sister and a number of other kidnapped Shadows from a diabolical plot to create a Shadow army, many have found a new respect for Racquel, but she is far from accepted in Shadow society, and the evil is far from over. To complicate matters, Racquel now finds herself torn between two brothers. Coy is caring and has helped Racquel through her struggles, and Micah, who Racquel has only met once but who is somehow, having dream conversations with him. Racquel becomes torn between following her heart while breaking it at the same time. In the second installment of the Shadow World series, Racquel and her sister Addie face off with the Shadow leaders against a threat that could bring the world to its knees. Power will be pushed to its limit, hearts will be broken, and some will pay the ultimate price as Racquel and her group of Shadows fight against an ancient evil that is determined to make the earth bleed and Racquel with it.

Broken Faith:

Kayson is a Fallen Angel who has spent decades running from the Hell Hounds while searching for something that no one else believes can be so, not even God.  Kayson is determined to find a Blood Child.  But when a hound finds Kayson first, he is sure his end has come.

Falon, Alpha of the Hell Hounds, destroyer of the blood children, and devoted believer in his master’s plan, is bound and determined to drag Kayson back to Hell with him.

Sabrina is a Vampire, a half-breed created from one of Lucifer’s original blood children.  After years of hiding, Sabrina’s fate changes when she finds Kayson barely alive. Against her instincts, Sabrina saves him.  Now she and Kayson are both marked by the Hell Hounds.

Emma is an ordinary human, whose only problem is making ends meet, and getting over the hurt caused by her untrustworthy brother.  Her everyday problems become supernatural ones when she finds Kayson and Sabrina hiding in her parent’s backyard shed.

Kayson, Sabrina and Emma are unlikely allies, thrown together by chance to fight against the most powerful creatures of the underworld in order to follow their world-changing quest.  But will the broken faith of one break the faith of all?
